Leoma Lovegrove says Nuts to Breast Cancer

Each year in October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lovegrove Gallery in Matlacha is awash with hot pink paint.
Lovegrove's signature coconut postcards are painted with slogans of encouragement to be mailed to those who are undergoing treatment or slogans of congratulations for survivors of breast cancer. The coconuts are free to anyone currently undergoing treatment. Otherwise, they sell for ten dollars with profits going to From Our Hearts, a charity started by Pine Islanders eight years ago to help find a cure and to offer a helping hand to those dealing with the disease.
Other items for sale are reusable, bejeweled cake testers packaged with a recipe for Celebrate Courage Cake; pink wall signs made from recycled materials, and sets of notecards that include artwork contributed by past visitors to the gallery.
Outside, Lovegrove's mannequins will be pretty in pink, too.
