The 6th Annual Breast Cancer Benefit "Breast Fest"was a big success! 

The 6th Annual Pine Island Breast Cancer Benefit "Breast Fest" 2007 was held on March 10th at the St. James City Civic Center and it was a great success. The 5k walk brought in over $52,000.00 and the overall total was over $70,000.00.

As in past years the event would not be possible without the generous help of so many people in the Pine Island, Cape Coral, Ft. Myers and Punta Gorda areas as well as the east coast of Florida.

"Team Palm" from Plantation, Fl brought in $10,000.00 which was the highest for any team.  Thank you to all the musicians that donated their time and talent and to the merchants, restaurants, churches and individuals that without whose help the event would not exist.

People often as why we put so much effort into events such as Breast Fest.

We are sometimes asked “Why do you do it?”  The answer is simple.  During this year’s event one of the organizations in attendance that has been a major recipient of the finds donated to our organization, Partners for Breast Cancer Care, was approached by  three different women that were in need of  mammograms.  They had little or no insurance and all three were able to get the free help they needed because of the money that has been donated by the community.  In addition another woman with a lump found in a local business a mammogram brochure that From Our Hearts has been distributing throughout the island that led her to the help she needed.  Hopefully they will not need any follow up care but if they do the community has already stepped up to help and they will be taken care of.  These are but a few of the ways our community helps those that for one reason or another are in need.

“Why do we do it?”  We do it now in the hope that there will be no reason to do it later”.
