In Memory of Babby Johnson....

Babby Johnson was a very special person to all who knew her and held a very special spot in the hearts of all of us at From Our Hearts. Her untimely passing in January of 2006 was felt deeply by all that knew her. In 2002 Babby stood up on stage in front of everyone gathered at the Island Hardware and told us about her battle with Breast Cancer which set the stage for our (From Our Heart's) battle against that terrible disease. The event turned out to be the First Annual Pine Island Breast Cancer Benefit and it is because of people like her that need help but still give of themselves that we are continuing the tradition of helping.

She was always willing to help whether it was directing traffic, selling beverages or talking to someone recently diagnosed. She cannot be replaced and will be missed. Babby...we love you!

From all of us at From Our Hearts!

The picture to the left has a certain significance for me. Babby was helping at an event (as she always did) by slowing down traffic on Stringfellow Road using the sign shown on a pole (it actually says SLOW on one side and STOP on the other). I started to take her picture and she told me to wait while she made sure she was presentable. She quickly turned the sign around so it said STOP and yelled "Now"! I took the picture but I guess she forgot what she was doing because just at that moment a pickup with a large boat was starting to go by, saw her turn the sign to stop and SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES! The look on her face was classic and I probably would have gotten the shot if I wasn't so worried about a big boat sliding and wiping me off the side of the road. That was Babby!
